How It Started
Out of Bounds Sports KC was founded by Scott Guerrero and Mitch Weber, who first met while serving together on the Stonewall Sports Kansas City board. Scott served as Volleyball Director and Mitch as Sponsorship Director, where they quickly discovered a shared passion for community-building through sports. Their friendship grew both on and off the field, including singing together in the Tenor 2 section of the Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City.
For the past several years, Scott and Mitch have talked about creating a new recreational sports league that would expand opportunities for connection within the LGBTQ+ community. They launched Out of Bounds Sports KC with the belief that Kansas City’s LGBTQ+ community is vibrant and growing, with plenty of room to support multiple leagues and spaces for people to play, meet new friends, and feel welcomed.

Scott Guerrero
Scott is an avid athlete with experience in volleyball and kickball. A former Sand Volleyball Director for an LGBTQ+ sports league, he brings leadership, and coaching experience.
Scotty is also a member of the Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City and has a background in opera performance, combining his love of athletics and the arts to help build vibrant, inclusive community experiences.

Mitch brings a passion for community building, sponsorship development, and inclusive recreational experiences.
He is also an active member of the Heartland Men’s Chorus Kansas City and has been involved in LGBTQ+ sports leadership in Kansas City for several years.

As the league grows, they plan to expand offerings to include additional sports, tournaments, and community events, continuing to build an inclusive environment where everyone can show up, have fun, and be proudly out of bounds.
